For all of his years in the spotlight at the helm of Apple, Steve Jobs in many ways remains an inscrutable figure — even in his death. Fiercely private, Jobs concealed most specifics about his personal life, from his curious family life to the details of his battle with pancreatic cancer — a disease that ultimately claimed him on Wednesday, at the age of 56.
While the CEO and co-founder of Apple steered most interviews away from the public fascination with his private life, there's plenty we know about Jobs the person, beyond the Mac and the iPhone. If anything, the obscure details of his interior life paint a subtler, more nuanced portrait of how one of the finest technology minds of our time grew into the dynamo that we remember him as today.
1. Early life and childhood
Jobs was born in San Francisco on February 24, 1955. He was adopted shortly after his birth and reared near Mountain View, California by a couple named Clara and Paul Jobs. His adoptive father — a term that Jobs openly objected to — was a machinist for a laser company and his mother worked as an accountant.
Later in life, Jobs discovered the identities of his estranged parents. His birth mother, Joanne Simpson, was a graduate student at the time and later a speech pathologist; his biological father, Abdulfattah John Jandali, was a Syrian Muslim who left the country at age 18 and reportedly now serves as the vice president of a Reno, Nevada casino. While Jobs reconnected with Simpson in later years, he and his biological father remained estranged.
Reed College
2. College dropout
The lead mind behind the most successful company on the planet never graduated from college, in fact, he didn't even get close. After graduating from high school in Cupertino, California — a town now synonymous with 1 Infinite Loop, Apple's headquarters — Jobs enrolled in Reed College in 1972. Jobs stayed at Reed (a liberal arts university in Portland, Oregon) for only one semester, dropping out quickly due to the financial burden the private school's steep tuition placed on his parents.
In his famous 2005 commencement speech to Stanford University, Jobs said of his time at Reed: "It wasn't all romantic. I didn't have a dorm room, so I slept on the floor in friends' rooms, I returned coke bottles for the 5 cent deposits to buy food with, and I would walk the seven miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple."
Breakout for the Atari
3. Fibbed to his Apple co-founder about a job at Atari
Jobs is well known for his innovations in personal computing, mobile tech, and software, but he also helped create one of the best known video games of all-time. In 1975, Jobs was tapped by Atari to work on the Pong-like game Breakout.
He was reportedly offered $750 for his development work, with the possibility of an extra $100 for each chip eliminated from the game's final design. Jobs recruited Steve Wozniak (later one of Apple's other founders) to help him with the challenge. Wozniak managed to whittle the prototype's design down so much that Atari paid out a $5,000 bonus — but Jobs kept the bonus for himself, and paid his unsuspecting friend only $375, according to Wozniak's own autobiography.
4. The wife he leaves behind
Like the rest of his family life, Jobs kept his marriage out of the public eye. Thinking back on his legacy conjures images of him commanding the stage in his trademark black turtleneck and jeans, and those solo moments are his most iconic. But at home in Palo Alto, Jobs was raising a family with his wife, Laurene, an entrepreneur who attended the University of Pennsylvania's prestigious Wharton business school and later received her MBA at Stanford, where she first met her future husband.
For all of his single-minded dedication to the company he built from the ground up, Jobs actually skipped a meeting to take Laurene on their first date: "I was in the parking lot with the key in the car, and I thought to myself, 'If this is my last night on earth, would I rather spend it at a business meeting or with this woman?' I ran across the parking lot, asked her if she'd have dinner with me. She said yes, we walked into town and we've been together ever since."
In 1991, Jobs and Powell were married in the Ahwahnee Hotel at Yosemite National Park, and the marriage was officiated by Kobin Chino, a Zen Buddhist monk.
5. His sister is a famous author
Later in his life, Jobs crossed paths with his biological sister while seeking the identity of his birth parents. His sister, Mona Simpson (born Mona Jandali), is the well-known author of Anywhere But Here — a story about a mother and daughter that was later adapted into a film starring Natalie Portman and Susan Sarandon.
After reuniting, Jobs and Simpson developed a close relationship. Of his sister, he told a New York Times interviewer: "We're family. She's one of my best friends in the world. I call her and talk to her every couple of days.'' Anywhere But Here is dedicated to "my brother Steve."
Joan Baez
6. Celebrity romances
In The Second Coming of Steve Jobs, an unauthorized biography, a friend from Reed reveals that Jobs had a brief fling with folk singer Joan Baez. Baez confirmed the the two were close "briefly," though her romantic connection with Bob Dylan is much better known (Dylan was the Apple icon's favorite musician). The biography also notes that Jobs went out with actress Diane Keaton briefly.
7. His first daughter
When he was 23, Jobs and his high school girlfriend Chris Ann Brennan conceived a daughter, Lisa Brennan Jobs. She was born in 1978, just as Apple began picking up steam in the tech world. He and Brennan never married, and Jobs reportedly denied paternity for some time, going as far as stating that he was sterile in court documents. He went on to father three more children with Laurene Powell. After later mending their relationship, Jobs paid for his first daughter's education at Harvard. She graduated in 2000 and now works as a magazine writer.
8. Alternative lifestyle
In a few interviews, Jobs hinted at his early experience with the psychedelic drug LSD. Of Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Jobs said: "I wish him the best, I really do. I just think he and Microsoft are a bit narrow. He'd be a broader guy if he had dropped acid once or gone off to an ashram when he was younger."
The connection has enough weight that Albert Hofmann, the Swiss scientist who first synthesized (and took) LSD, appealed to Jobs for funding for research about the drug's therapeutic use.
In a book interview, Jobs called his experience with the drug "one of the two or three most important things I have done in my life." As Jobs himself has suggested, LSD may have contributed to the "think different" approach that still puts Apple's designs a head above the competition.
Jobs will forever be a visionary, and his personal life also reflects the forward-thinking, alternative approach that vaulted Apple to success. During a trip to India, Jobs visited a well-known ashram and returned to the U.S. as a Zen Buddhist.
Jobs was also a pescetarian who didn't consume most animal products, and didn't eat meat other than fish. A strong believer in Eastern medicine, he sought to treat his own cancer through alternative approaches and specialized diets before reluctantly seeking his first surgery for a cancerous tumor in 2004.
9. His fortune
As the CEO of the world's most valuable brand, Jobs pulled in a comically low annual salary of just $1. While the gesture isn't unheard of in the corporate world — Google's Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and Eric Schmidt all pocketed the same 100 penny salary annually — Jobs has kept his salary at $1 since 1997, the year he became Apple's lead executive. Of his salary, Jobs joked in 2007: "I get 50 cents a year for showing up, and the other 50 cents is based on my performance."
In early 2011, Jobs owned 5.5 million shares of Apple. After his death, Apple shares were valued at $377.64 — a roughly 43-fold growth in valuation over the last 10 years that shows no signs of slowing down.
He may only have taken in a single dollar per year, but Jobs leaves behind a vast fortune. The largest chunk of that wealth is the roughly $7 billion from the sale of Pixar to Disney in 2006. In 2011, with an estimated net worth of $8.3 billion, he was the 110th richest person in the world, according to Forbes. If Jobs hadn't sold his shares upon leaving Apple in 1985 (before returning to the company in 1996), he would be the world's fifth richest individual.
While there's no word yet on plans for his estate, Jobs leaves behind three children from his marriage to Laurene Jobs (Reed, Erin, and Eve), as well as his first daughter, Lisa Brennan-Jobs.

Kesilapan Kerap Muslim Dalam Bulan Ramadhan
Oleh
Zaharuddin Abd Rahman
www.zaharuddin.net
Ertinya : "Ditanya kepada Nabi (oleh seorang sahabat) : Wahai Rasulullah :" Waktu bilakah doa paling didengari (oleh Allah s.w.t) ; jawab Nabi : Pada hujung malam (waktu sahur) dan selepas solat fardhu" ( Riwayat At-Tirmidzi, no 3494 , Tirmidzi & Al-Qaradhawi : Hadis Hasan ; Lihat Al-Muntaqa , 1/477)
4) Tidak menunaikan solat ketika berpuasa.
Ia adalah satu kesilapan yang maha besar. Memang benar, solat bukanlah syarat sah puasa.
Ertinya : menyebut tentang seorang pemuda yang bermusafir dalam perjalanan yang jauh, hal rambutnya kusut masai, mukanya berdebu di mana dia mengangkat tangan ke langit : Wahai Tuhanku...wahai Tuhanku... sedangkan makanannya haram, minumannya haram dan pakaiannya haram..Dan dia dibesarkan dengan memakan makanan haram maka bagaimana Kami mahu mengabulkan doanya. ( Riwayat Muslim, no 1015, 2/703 ; hadis sohih)
Justeru, bagaimana Allah mahu memakbulkan doa orang yang berpuasa sedangkan keretanya haram, rumahnya haram, kad kreditnya haram, insurannya haram, simpanan banknya haram, pendapatannya haram?.

How Positivity Opens Doors in Your Career
Curt Rosengren, On Friday 8 April 2011, 3:10 SGT
I write frequently about how what's happening between your ears plays a big role in your career potential. A change in how you view the world--as a place of limits or a place of possibility--literally shrinks or expands the options available to you. And I don't mean that from a metaphysical "manifestation" perspective. I mean it from a common sense, logical perspective.
As humans, we are pattern-seeking creatures. It's what we do. Something happens, and our brain decides what box it fits in. When you see the world through a lens of lack and limit, that sets the pattern your brain is looking to match. So when negative things happen, it reinforces that worldview. And when positive things happen, they are both minimized in importance and truncated by waiting for the other shoe to drop. A perspective of possibility and potential, on the other hand, does the opposite.
All of that has an impact on what you'll be willing to try and how you will interpret whatever results you get. And what you are willing to try by definition defines what you have the potential to achieve.
If you want to craft and refine your outlook, a great place to start is by paying careful attention to the language you use. Is it limiting or expansive? Does it assume the best, or does it assume the worst? Often the language we use is habitual, a knee-jerk response.
Eliminate these four phrases from your career vocabulary, and you'll open doors for your future:
I can't
In a decade of my Passion Catalyst work, I have seen this assessment turn out to be wrong so many times. It might feel real, but often it's not. The reality is often something completely different. On closer examination, "I can't" frequently means things like, "I could, but I don't see all the options yet." Or "I could, but I'm not willing to do the hard work it would require." Or "I could, but not immediately."
They won't
Unless you happen to be a mind reader, steer clear of this one. You don't--and can't--know how other people are going to respond until they do. Need help from someone in your job search? Reach out and ask. You're guaranteed to not get it if you don't (in which case "they won't" is spot on). Want to collaborate with someone on a project? Again, don't assume you know the negative answer.
Even if you're right that "they won't" eight out of ten times, that still opens two doors that would otherwise have remained closed forever. Imagine the cumulative impact of that over the course of your career.
It's not possible
When I hear this, one of the things I often ask is, "Do you know that for certain? Can you prove it?" Often people just default to this without really thinking it through. "It's not possible" often winds up being, "It's possible, but it would take a lot of effort," or, "It's not possible in my current scenario, but if I make these changes it could actually be possible."
A good question to ask if this phrase comes up for you is, "What if I HAD to make it happen? How could I?" Stretch your creative problem-solving.
I have to
People have so many ingrained rules about what they have to do, and often they're little more than unquestioned assumptions installed by other people (parents, teachers, past bosses, etc.). If you find yourself operating according to a set of have-to expectations, ask yourself, "Do I really? Why? What if I didn't?"
Now, of course all of these are going to be accurate on occasion. There will be times when you really can't do something. And there will be times when, yes, you really do have to do something. But there will also be times when these assumptions simply aren't accurate.
If you take yourself off autopilot by questioning your assumptions when these phrases come up, you'll open the door to possibility and potential. And step-by-step, you'll leave that knee-jerk perspective of limits and lack behind.
After years as a professional malcontent, Curt Rosengren discovered the power of passion. As speaker, author, and coach, Rosengren helps people create careers that energize and inspire them. His book, 101 Ways to Get Wild About, and his E-book, The Occupational Adventure Guide, offer people tools for turning dreams into reality.

10 Signs It's Time To Quit Your Job
Chances are if you are lucky enough to have a job, the thought of quitting sounds ridiculous. With the unemployment rate at an all time high, most people are thanking their lucky stars to be employed.
But even in a bad economy some jobs are just not worth it. Are there any telltale signs you should be looking for when trying to decide if you throw in the towel? Here are ten signs to look for to determine if it's time to find a new job:
You Aren't Learning Anything New
Yes, you want to know how to do most of your job. But there are also things you want to be learning; otherwise you are not growing professionally. If you have stopped learning at work, it's time to find a job where you will learn new skills and grow professionally.
You Never Have a Day When You Wake Up Excited To Go To Work
If you wake up every morning Monday through Friday and never feel excited to go to work, that is a problem. It means you aren't enjoying your job and it is diminishing your quality of life. If you wake up every day and dread going to work, it's time to consider quitting your job.
You Spend More Time Surfing the Web Than Doing Your Job
When you are at work, you are supposed to be productive. Otherwise, it's a waste of your time and the company's money. If you are bored and surfing the web most of your work day, you may want to think about looking into job options where you'll get more stimulation and responsibilities.
You Don't Like Most of Your Coworkers
There are always one or two coworkers in the office that most people can't stand. But if you don't like most of your coworkers, chances are your days aren't very enjoyable because you have to work with them day in and day out. If you can't stand most of your coworkers, it's time to think about finding a company whose employees you mesh with better.
You Aren't Making Enough Money to Pay Your Bills
If you are working your butt off and not getting paid enough to pay your bills, you might be overqualified and underpaid for your position. Go find a job that pays what you deserve.
You Spend Time Looking For Other Jobs
If you are spending time looking for other jobs while you are on the clock, it's obvious you want to leave your job. So keep looking for new jobs and as soon as you find a good one, take it and run.
You Haven't Gotten a Raise in the Last Two Years
If you work hard and benefit the company you work for, you deserve to be rewarded for that. If your boss hasn't given you a raise in the last two years, ask for one. If he or she says no, get out now.
Your Boss Sucks
Sometimes bosses suck. But if your boss sucks all the time and takes advantage of your time, it's time to find a new job.
The Company Isn't Doing Well
This sign varies from company to company. You must keep in mind that we are in a recession and if sales are down but the company isn't in jeopardy, this sign may not apply to you. However, if business is down to the point where it looks like the company is going to go under, start looking for a new job NOW!
You are Stressed All the Time
You are supposed to enjoy life, not be stressed out all the time. If you spend most of your days stressed about everything that going on at work, you are not at the right job.
Know any other signs that you should quit your job that weren't listed above?

Most Annoying Coworkers
Quite sometimes I didn't update this blog. For a start, I want to share this quote "In life, when you encounter mean and hurtful people, treat them like sandpaper. No matter how rough they may scrub you, you end up polished and smooth... :)".. well said..
So many things happened but no matter how bad it is.. life has to go on..
Just want to share this article with you all..

Co-workers are kind of like lovers-you can't live with them, but you can't live without them. They might be, in your eyes, unique-no other office could possibly have a brown-noser as bad as Walter, or an office gossip as horrible as that girl from Finance. Here's some news: EVERY office has them, and they only change in shape, size, and gender.
See which of these people clock in 8 hours with you everyday.
The Whiner
Absolutely NOTHING goes well for this person. If she gets a raise, it's too low. If she's given more vacation leaves, she stresses that she could use more. If given a promotion, she'll spend the next week drowning herself in cocktails, lamenting over all the extra responsibilities she suddenly has. The Whiner also doesn't care whether or not you want to hear about her stoooopid client meeting.
The Oxygen Sucker
Think of it this way: if your office were made up of 21 people, and your company were in a spaceship and you had oxygen good enough for only 20, you would not have second thoughts about kicking him off the ship. What makes him such an oxygen sucker? First off, despite him being in the company years before you, he still really sucks at his job. That, or he doesn't really do his job. Most of his time is spent watching episodes of RuPaul's "Drag Race" on Youtube, and updating his status message on Facebook ("Bench-pressed twice my weight at the gym!"). Seriously, this guy gets paid?
The Floater
If the aforementioned space ship's oxygen tank runs even lower, this is the next guy you'll chuck out the door. Like the Oxygen Sucker, The Floater pretty much gets paid to do-wait, what does he really do?! You see The Floater chatting with co-workers by the water cooler, mixing himself some coffee in the pantry, and he's always present at every meeting. But no one really knows what he's meant to do, what his position is, and why on earth he's still employed in your company!
The Brown-Noser
No one likes a brown-noser...unless it's your ass being kissed. Brown Nosers can be found on both the bottom and the top of the company ladder (how else did they get up there in the first place?)...but nothing sucks more than the Brown Nosers at the top. Bottom feeders can easily be bullied or called out on.
The Procrastinator
She may have been the world's best procrastinator in college who always managed to submit her term papers on time. But when your ass is on the line, last-minute cramming just won't do. Nothing sucks more than having to clock in overtime hours for the nth time this week because she didn't do her part of the job. Makes you wonder if she could pass off as an Oxygen Sucker as well...
The Geriatric
He's seen it all, he knows it all. Of course he does-he was probably working in the company even before you were conceived. Even though half the company complains about how The Geriatric is so not up to date with today's methods and techniques ("I need some more Snowpake,") he's kept around because of that dreaded word: tenure. You're convinced he gets paid ten times your salary to be a living relic of your company.
All Talk, No Action
Putting the word "politics" in "office politics", the All Talk, No Action (let's call him ATNA) guy loves to talk about things like "the future", but never really delivers. Expect a lot of words such as "moving forward", "profits", and "company morale" when this guy opens his mouth. But really, he just likes the sound of his own voice. The ATNA loves to call meetings that don't amount to anything, therefore wasting everyone's time. It's like having to watch the movie "Gigli" every week, only you're paid to do so, so you can't really complain.
The Office Gossip
She's not really that annoying, unless the story she's spinning is about you. What sucks about the Office Gossip is you don't know just how buddy-buddy you should get with her. Be aloof and you won't be in the loop with the latest goss...get too close, and she'd know all your dirty little secrets (which make for perfect blackmail material).

Malaysia intends no harm to Singapore: Dr M
and.. this will never end.. ooohh boy..
Malaysia has never harboured intentions of attacking or harming Singapore, former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said in his blog last Thursday.
But the outspoken former leader warned that the Republic’s constant drumbeat about unfriendly neighbours will give rise to tensions and spark an arms race.
His comments — picked up by the media — were made in a lengthy and sometimes acerbic post on his popular blog, Che Det. He was responding to assertions by Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew in the book Hard Truths To Keep Singapore Going, which was published last month.
In the post, attacking what he viewed as the central premise of the book, the 85-year-old said, “Without saying so in so many words, Lee Kuan Yew believes that the island’s neighbours would war against it if it has no military capacity to defend itself.”
But he added, “Even in my time, there was no such intention… I don’t think my successors harbour any intention to do harm to Singapore. These are the hard truths. Competition in trade and shipping does not mean war, or a threat of war.
“But one thing is certain: If Singapore treats Malaysia and Indonesia as its enemies, then you must expect them to prepare for their defence,” he said.
Dr Mahathir said that even if it may not lead to war, there will be tension and the possibility of an arms race. This he said will eventually lead to much money being wasted.
“It would be far better if Mr Lee stops thinking about being vulnerable and that its neighbours harbour the intention to invade it.’
In substantiating his claims of the country’s peaceful intentions, Dr Mahathir also said it was Malaysia which suggested that competing claims over Pedra Branca be submitted to the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
“Malaysia’s willingness to go to the international court is hardly in keeping with a country which harbours the intention to invade Singapore,” he said.
“As with Pulau Batu Puteh, Sipadan and Ligitan, our preference is for negotiation, arbitration or an international court’s decision.”
Pulau Batu Puteh is the Malay name for Pedra Branca. Sipadan and Ligitan are the two islands off Sabah that Malaysia won after its dispute with Indonesia went to the ICJ.
On the issue of sand, Dr Mahathir noted that in the book, Mr Lee had quoted him as saying, “Even at their (Singapore’s) present size, they are trouble, you let them grow some more, they will be more trouble”.
“I may have said that, I cannot remember. But is that an indication that we intend to invade Singapore?” he asked.
He explained that the supply of sand to the Republic was stopped because it was causing erosion along parts of the Malaysian coast. Allowing the supply to continue, he argued, would cause the erosion to worsen as well as destroy fish-breeding grounds, thus affecting the livelihoods of Malaysian fishermen.
Portraying Singapore as a troublemaker, Dr Mahathir said he tried to solve several problems between the two countries while he was prime minister, such as the railway land issue and the price of water, but they came to nought.
Turning to other statements made by Mr Lee in the book, he took a swipe at politics in Singapore by charting the contrasting fortunes of two political parties since the Republic’s separation from Malaysia.
He said when both sides separated in 1965, supporters of the People’s Action Party (PAP) formed the Malaysian opposition Democratic Action Party (DAP), “which is alive and well today in Malaysia”.
“But the rump Umno left in Singapore could not survive in the hostile atmosphere. For that matter, no other political party has been allowed to function properly in Singapore,” he added.
“Kuan Yew claims all these opposition people are duds and must not be allowed to rule Singapore or even to be in the opposition,” he said.
This “frank admission that he determines who should represent the people of Singapore”, Dr Mahathir said, is incontrovertible proof that Singapore is a totalitarian state.
